Just to share with you all, there are some VBA Macro coding tools that we use in our daily life here in organization. As we have covered VBA macro coding in amity by Dr. Kamal Gulati, I spoke to one of the senior managers that we have done macro coding and i want to use my skill over here as well.

So a training has been arranged for us and the topics we covered in 1st two sessions have almost been covered by us in amity by you sir.

I want to thank Dr. Kamal Gulati  for all those questions you used to give us as they helped me a lot and very useful for the corporate world.

Thanks again to ASIBAS, Amity University for the extensive help and guidance throughout.

It makes me extremely happy to go through the article as it testifies the effort of ASIBAS in getting us placed. When I say placed I mean both, the summer internship as well as the final placements. IIMs are grappling even with their summer internship placements and engaging advisers in corporate relations & placements and paying out hefty amounts for a few days of consultation. While the faculty at ASIBAS has very ably got us placed well on time in well known private and public sector organizations during summer internship reckoning the fact that in times to come ASIBAS would go places. Considering the impressive figure of 82% of all eligible students at ASIBAS already placed with pretty decent salary, ASIBAS is going to set an example for all other amity institutions and make its presence felt by the time semester ends.

 Now even though I may sound pompous, nothing stops me from believing and saying that ASIBAS is going to be the flag bearer of Amity University in near future for sure.

Acknowledgement of the assistance given by faculty to getting placed in IT Company.

I am a student who is placed at Newgen Software Technologies and one of the reasons behind my achievement is because of the helping hand given by Dr. Kamal Gulati Sir. He had actually prepared a question bank for Business Analyst which had stated the important basic & advance concepts to clear off.

His teachings had given me confidence to answer the questions in the interview process. He had also told how to answer my interview questions as per the role I had to play.

I didn't feel the same happiness i have now when i got placed. Our department record of 82% placement this year is a great message to all B-Schools saying our department will be a great competitor in in a year or two for them..

ASIBAS has shown an incredible response in the placements process this year.though the job market is not favorable still ASIBAS has shown a massive development in the placement process by placing almost 82% students, hardly a small a of 9 students are left for being placed.

This has been achieved by the joint efforts of the teachers and the students. We were guided right a way from the first year of our course however the major training started from July and we had activities like ex-tempo, news paper reading and even domain classes were arranged for us.

Therefore the wonderful response of ASIBAS in reference to placements is only because of the support provided by our faculty and placement coordinator.

Extent of IT in Actuarial Field

Recently I was in the Mercer’s office in Louisville, USA for couple of months. Along with some other assignments, I was responsible to provide training to the new hires of that office on MS Excel. I am glad that our syllabus in post-graduation included handsome amount of IT contents, especially MS Excel and we actually got to learn them. I really thank Dr. Kamal Gulati (IT Faculty) for all your effort on this.

I do realize how crucial MS Excel is in our actuarial field. For all actuarial works companies use high end software (most of them are in-house) but almost all of them uses excel for checking and other analysis. I do believe that this is where we have an edge over the others as we come out with good knowledge of Excel, access and VBA.  VBA is something which is not an absolute requirement but knowledge on VBA can take someone far ahead. Most of time, the checking/analysis are repetitive and time consuming; this is where knowledge of macros and VBA gives one advantage over the mass.

To give you an insight on the level/extent of macros we use I will list some of the tools that I created using excel VBA to facilitate our daily workflow.

a)      As a final product we have a software generated funding calculation workbook (around 25-30 tabs) which we used to check manually. I created a tool using macro where it automatically checks around 80% of the results using different source files. Originally it took around 3-4 hours but using macro now it is completed within 3-4 minutes.

b)      We calculate data statistics (like average age, benefit, service etc.) for all records/groups and send them to client with final report. This was a manual job (really cumbersome at times for large data) until I created a tool which calculates these statistics automatically in a single click.

Because we deal with large data, one of the VBA stuff that I think are widely used in checking/analysis are cell operations (copy pasting numbers, calculating something based on other inputs, formatting etc) using loops. I know VBA is something that one can’t complete learning, but the basic idea that you us, helped to build a base on which we can build gradually
